Celebrate Griffith Observatory’s 90th anniversary with Rex Saint' Onge, Sr., Chumash Cultural Advisor on the Observatory's original short film Pacific Standard Universe (2024).

Celebrate Griffith Observatory’s 90th anniversary with Rex Saint’ Onge, Sr., Chumash Cultural Advisor on the Observatory’s original short film Pacific Standard Universe (2024).  Mr. Saint’ Onge, Sr. draws from thousands of years of indigenous California astronomy to show how celestial alignments mark significant moments, like birthdays and this very special anniversary.

This presentation is free to attend in-person in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater or stream on YouTube. If you’re watching at home, follow along with the presentation by printing out this activity page!

Program

5:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Moon Queue Priority Seating for Foundation members and guests with advance registration
6:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. – Seating opens for standby guests
6:15 p.m. – Show begins
Sunset Ceremony to follow.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION

While advance registration is not required, it is encouraged. The advance registration is free and includes priority seating and easier access to the parking lot. Seating is first come, first served and the standby line for guests without advance registration will be admitted beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the night of this event. There is no wait list, but guests waiting on standby will be seated until the theater is full.
