We’re celebrating our 90th anniversary, and we have created a special gift for you to explore: A Minecraft version of Griffith Observatory! This free downloadable map for Minecraft Java (on Windows, Mac, and Linux) allows visitors to engage with a unique, virtual version of Griffith Observatory in first-person. It features life-like art and architecture, abridged educational exhibits, a scavenger hunt side-quest, interactive elements, and surprises to reward the observer in everyone.

The Griffith Observatory Minecraft Map is a free, explorable version of Griffith Observatory for Minecraft players. Minecraft “maps” are virtual environments or games created in Minecraft. This map is available for Minecraft Java (Windows, Mac, and Linux) players to download and play.
How do I play the Griffith Observatory Minecraft Map?
While the Griffith Observatory Minecraft Map is free, Minecraft is not. No. While this virtual Griffith Observatory looks similar to the real thing, it is not a perfect replica. Some features, like specific exhibits and how you can interact with them, have been made simpler or made just for fun in the game. Some features do not exist in the real Observatory. This map is meant to represent Griffith Observatory in a new and exciting way that invites you to explore and inspires you to observe, ponder, and understand the sky.
Do you play alone or with others?
Once you download the map, it is yours to play alone (single-player) or with others (multi-player), but playing with others is a feature that you must set up yourself. We highly recommend that you only invite people you know and trust to play in multiplayer, and that players under 18 ask an adult for permission before joining a multiplayer server, realm, or network.
