Topics this month include the following.
RR Lyrae stars: Beating hearts of our Milky Way and how they challenge Immanuel Kant's idea of galaxies as "island universes"
Join us for a very special All Space Considered with returning guest, Dr. Raja GuhaThakurta, Professor/Astronomer and Department Chair of the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at University of California Santa Cruz.
After the show, around 9:00 p.m., PST, join us for a special eavesdropping “Shadow the Scientists” (StS) session with Dr. GuhaThakurta and his research team as they use the Keck II 10-meter telescope and ESI spectrograph on the summit of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii! Dr. GuhaThakurta and his team will be taking spectra of distant RR Lyrae stars in the halo of the Milky Way (weather permitting). We hope you’ll join us!
