On April 19, 2011, the Observatory hosted a special public lecture to explain why shuttle launches sometimes get delayed and to preview the final flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Upcoming NASA events at Griffith Observatory

The launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour’s last mission, STS-134, has been postponed from April 19 to April 29 (click here for more information).

On April 19, Griffith Observatory staff will take advantage of Endeavour’s launch delay to describe the upcoming mission, explain why it was postponed, and discuss the conclusion of NASA’s Space Shuttle program. Video footage of a previous launch will also be shown. This event will take place in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon.
