Griffith Observatory hosted an afternoon of space-themed activities for elementary and middle school students, including the opportunity to meet Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti on April 9, 2016.

Upcoming Special Guest Lectures at Griffith Observatory

Join us on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. for an afternoon of space-themed activities, fun, and the opportunity to see what rocket science is all about! Elementary and middle school students are invited to Griffith Observatory to learn about space, to meet Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater, and to talk to young rocket engineers from Virgin Galactic, The SpaceShipCompany, and other area space and tech companies. Kids will also be able to build their very own “Spudnik” potato satellite or straw rockets.

1:15 p.m. Build a “Spudnik” potato satellite (Boeing Education Center)
1:45 p.m. Build a “Straw Rocket” (Boeing Education Center)
