Join the Observatory's curatorial staff as they examine and explain the most-talked-about subjects in astronomy and space science. It is free to attend in-person or stream on YouTube.

TIM RUSS has been working within the entertainment industry for over thirty-nine years. His talents encompass a wide spectrum of the performing arts, including composing, music (guitar and vocals), acting, writing, directing, voice-over, and producing. Mr. Russ received his B.S. in Theater at St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX, and completed one year of postgraduate work in Theater at Illinois State University.

As an actor, Mr. Russ has worked across a wide range of feature films and television productions, including KARMA, 5TH PASSENGER, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, and SPACEBALLS, as well as series regular roles on THE HIGHWAYMAN, THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR, STAR TREK: VOYAGER, SAMANTHA WHO, and iCARLY.

Mr. Russ has also been active in the TV/film directing arena, with credits including the television series STAR TREK: VOYAGER. He received an EMMY AWARD for his direction of several commercials for the FBI.

Outside of the entertainment field, Tim’s passion has always been space science. As a member of The Planetary Society and the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, he has participated in several special events with Griffith Observatory including regular public star parties, Mars close approaches, and the Shoemaker-Levy comet collision with Jupiter.
